Container
Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) is a thermoplastic resin. It is a type of polyester and has similar properties to polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which is used for drink bottles.
Polybutylene terephthalate is valuable because of its high resistance, rigidity, and good wear characteristics. Also, PBT has a good chemical resistance to many solvents.
Typical application temperatures range from -20 to 100 °C. It is microwavable and can also be used easily as storage in the freezer.
PBT is thus well suited for food packaging and meets legal requirements for this application.
Like PET, PBT is completely recyclable.
Lid
The lid consists of polyethylene short PE and is a temperature-resistant material. Because of its good properties as a fat and moisture barrier, it is one of the most used plastics in food packaging.
The material has a high chemical resistance.
Depending on the type, the PE retains its properties within a temperature range of -60°C and +85 degrees Celsius. As a result, it is good as a container for the freezer, but it is not recommended to put the lid in the microwave.
Defective ECOBOXes can be exchanged for new containers in all participating restaurants. These are then returned to the manufacturer and used as raw material for new products (e.g.: cable sheath, …)
